Inspired by the historic 9th-century African American settlement known as Seneca Village—once located in what is now Central Park—The Seneca is a seventeen-story tower that champions functionality, evolution, and connectivity. This design reimagines urban spaces as vibrant community hubs, integrating public and private spaces that foster relationships, promote health, and honor the legacy of community resilience.
Design Statement
The Seneca embraces the concept of Evolution by respecting its surroundings and integrating seamlessly with the urban fabric. Its towered form provides a variety of views, enhancing the skyline while creating distinct spaces that adapt to the community’s needs. The design encourages growth and functionality, offering tailored amenities that serve both individual and collective interests.
Connectivity Statement
Connecting to the High Line and neighboring green spaces, The Seneca removes boundaries between architecture and nature, cultivating movement through well-defined indoor and outdoor spaces. This seamless integration fosters a sense of accessibility and openness, linking the tower to essential resources like affordable retail, community centers, and wellness spaces, which together reinforce community vitality.
Functionality & Accessibility Statement
With accessibility at its core, The Seneca ensures easy entry to public, semi-private, and private areas, including direct connections to the High Line. The design focuses on flexible, optimally functional spaces that accommodate a wide range of uses, making it a dynamic, evolving environment dedicated to the well-being and growth of the community.
