Destiny Graves is an innovative architect-in-training at Louisiana State University, passionately pursuing architecture with a dedication to community-driven and sustainable design. Raised in Geismar, Louisiana—a small community shaped by the environmental challenges of "Cancer Alley"—Destiny’s understanding of architecture goes beyond aesthetics. She recognizes the profound impact that thoughtful, responsible design can have on community well-being, resilience, and inclusivity. Her work is rooted in principles of simplicity, safety, unity, and love, striving to create spaces that nurture and protect.
As the past President of the National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (NOMAS) at LSU and an active member of NOMA for over eight years, Destiny advocates for greater diversity and inclusion within architecture. Her leadership has brought her to three national conferences, where she’s built invaluable connections and furthered her commitment to design justice and equitable architecture. This drive extends to her entrepreneurial efforts through her brand, Element SeventyThree, which currently offers aromatherapy-infused candles but aims to evolve into an advocacy effort which emphasizes design justice, creating inclusive opportunities, and supporting aspiring architects from diverse backgrounds.
Destiny’s approach is defined by authenticity, integrity, and empathy. She strives to embody these values in every aspect of her work, whether in academic settings, client relationships, or mentorship roles. Her work is not only a testament to her technical expertise but also reflects her strong moral compass and dedication to uplifting others. Her design philosophy emphasizes energy efficiency, innovation, and community-focused design solutions that elevate both form and function. Destiny brings a unique perspective to her field, blending her design skills with an interest in business development, marketing, and managing client relationships. She values the strategic aspect of architecture, where her strong communication skills and client-centered approach enable her to build trust, manage expectations, and deliver impactful projects.
Guided by her faith, family, and community, Destiny envisions a future where her designs tell powerful stories of resilience, connection, and thoughtful impact. She is dedicated to lifelong learning, regularly pursuing new skills and industry insights to ensure her work remains innovative and relevant. Through each project, Destiny commits to inspiring future architects, upholding her responsibility as a mentor and advocate, and leaving a legacy of purposeful, transformative design.
